I love to sculpt a portrait. I find that my sitters quickly fit in to the process. Great conversation and contemplative moments reveal wonderful expressions. Exciting and rewarding.
The first meeting can either take place at my studio near Rye in East Sussex or at a more convenient place for you. We will discuss what you have in mind regarding the portrait including the colour of the bronze (traditional or other variations) and the base and plinth (if required).
If you decide to go ahead, I will then take some measurements and photographs. Sittings for the clay original sculpture would normally be in my studio near Rye in East Sussex. However, I am open to discuss whether some of the sittings could be held at your home, subject to suitable space and light.
Usually about six sittings are required which can be held over a few consecutive days, or over a longer period of time to suit your availability.
The clay original is then taken away to be cast by one of the top foundries in the UK – Livingston Art Foundry. I encourage the involvement of you and your family and welcome your opinion as work progresses. This will enable us to achieve everything we wish for from the finished sculpture. Expenses – Travel nationally and internationally.
